Eating healthy while living with Diabetes does not mean starving or avoiding carbohydrates (breads) entirely. Ultimately, you are in control of your diet. Lab results every 3 or 6 months simply show the types of choices you have made.
There are many ways to keep track of what you eat, including a commonly called Plate Method. This is a quick way to tell if a meal is balanced by looking at your plate.
The plate is divided into 3 categories; vegetables, meat, and grains/rice or bread.
1/2 (half) of the plate greens, vegetables
a fist size is meat
a fist size of carbohydrates
